| 2007: a bumpy ride
What a shocker 2007 proved to be for savers and investors. While it looks as though the FTSE 100 index of Britain's biggest shares will close the year slightly higher than it began, it has been a bumpy ride along the way. Even supposedly secure deposits shook savers' hopes of risk-free returns when Northern Rock crumbled after a run on the bank. .

Up Oxford way, Ole Miss student John Stirratt convinced his bass-playing twin sister to move north from New Orleans to join his band, The Hilltops. After its eventual breakup, Laurie and Hilltops guitarist (and Sumrall native) Cary Hudson birthed Blue Mountain. The two would later wed in 1994. (Twin John joined old friends Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy in Uncle Tupelo and later formed Wilco with Tweedy in '94.)Blue Mountain's confluence of dirt and grit, sweet harmonies, A-1 songwriting chops and energized live shows elevated its cult popularity straight to the cover of that alt country oracle, No Depression magazine, in 1996. The earthy, rock and roots infused sound had spilled out of Mississippi to national acclaim.Unfortunately, when the couple amicably parted ways, the band eventually did, too, in 2002.
Faith ignites strength for Lulu Roman's weight loss
She changed her name to Lulu Roman and became known for her comedy act in clubs and on television. She met country legend and Hee Haw star Buck Owens at a party and they became friends. When the show was launched, he recommended her. "I knew the whole time when I was on Hee Haw that I was the 'fat character,' the fluffy girl who would do silly things," she said. "The people I worked with were never unkind to me. They were a great cast. "But if we went out to eat, or we went into public places, there were always people who had that scowl on their faces, like, 'Isn't that disgusting?' That is something you hide in your heart. You don't talk about. You don't tell people, 'Oh, my God, someone just killed my heart today,' but it's there. "I don't care if you're the greatest comedienne in the world.
