| Tankleff's lawyers show possible new evidence
It is the latest of several attempts that Tankleff, 32, has launched to free himself from a 50-years-to-life sentence for the murder conviction.
Jay Salpeter, a retired New York City detective and private investigator who was hired by Tankleff's family and whose investigation sparked the motion for a new trial, was the first to testify yesterday. He said that a few weeks ago he discovered the pipe on the property of Tankleffs' neighbors, Ruth and John Trager, who have lived there for more than 30 years.
He said he and another investigator found it near the Tragers' driveway when they scoured the grounds with a metal detector. "I said, 'This is the pipe,'" Salpeter recounted.
John Trager testified he has never seen the pipe before and that his grounds are largely untouched.
JCPenney opening catalog service center in Newark
JCPenney will provide catalog service in Newark, NY through the JCPenney Catalog Service Center located at Secor Home & Hardware, 800 W. Miller Street, Newark. Beginning November 14, customers will be able to satisfy all of their catalog needs at the facility. Operated by Secor Home & Hardware the catalog service center will offer convenient shop-at-home and online catalog ordering services. Customers orders may be picked up at the service center or delivered directly to homes, offices or anywhere in the United States. According to Jodi Houge, JCPenney Catalog Sales Merchant Coordinator, the Service Center will provide the same customer services provided by the catalog desks in their department stores, ranging from processing of credit card payments to the sale of gift cards.

Students received a reply text message containing AbeBooks lowest price for new copies of their textbooks. If a student decided to buy the book, he replied by typing fwd and his e-mail address.
