If my history serves me right it was the Arabs (muslims) that attacked Israel right after the UN created the Jewish state starting the series of wars and semi wars in the area. It was also islam that first embarked on global conquest as pointed out in an earlier post and it was islam (Shi'i sect actually) that created the first sneaky terrorist group, The Assassins, in the late 11th Century in, big surprise, the Iran/Iraq area. It was also muslims engaged in the African slave trade and piracy in the Mediterranean, Indian Ocean, and South Seas. Didn't Jefferson have to finally slap them down early in US history. "What we need to do is look at what is stopping people making that final step, and then come up with a way of encouraging them to take it." Concern about the gap between those on high and low incomes remains high. A total of 34% of people surveyed wanted the government to raise taxes and redistribute income. This represents a fall from 47% in 1995. Bucking the trend If anything bucks the general trend suggested by the survey of a "more tolerant Britain" they are the twin issues of race and poverty.
